General William Temple Withers

In July of 2009, General William Temple Withers was inducted into the Harness Racing Museum Hall of Fame at Goshen, New York.  Below is the tribute out of Harness Racing at its Best, the souvenir journal of the induction proceedings, followed by the advertisement placed in the catalog by The Long Grey Line Farm.

The  following advertisement was sponsored by The Long Grey Line Farm and appeared in the Souvenir Journal, HARNESS RACING AT ITS BEST 2009!. It shows Almont trotting a 2:20 mile with my grandfather, Robert Sharkey Withers driving. The gorgeous American Saddlebred is Pacific Mist, who traces to Almont through his dam, elegantly shown by the renowned equine artist, Cynthia Hecht. We were honored to have Cynthia agree to portray Pacific Mist for this advertisement.  The original now hangs next to a picture of Almont. If you wish to contact Cynthia Hecht, you may email
